Gloria M. Saunders, 75, of West Chester, passed away on January 7, 2006 at the Pembrooke Nursing Home. She was the wife of Sterling R. Saunders, Sr. Born on January 7, 1931 in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Edith C. Bostic Glasco.
She was raised and educated in the Kennett Consolidated Schools and later was employed as a private duty nurse for many years.
Gloria was outgoing and enjoyed traveling, spending times with her children and grandchildren. She was known for her green thumb, transforming average plants into magnificent ones, and she enjoyed listening to country music.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Pamela Saunders and Khalima Washington; four sons, Charles H. Glasco, Sterling R. Saunders, Jr., Gregory D. Saunders, Sr., and Craig Allen Saunders; three brothers, Orville Glasco, Alfonso Glasco and Robert Glasco; two sisters, Evelyn Glasco and Constance Atley; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Everett W. Glasco, Jr.; and a sister Lois Benbow.
